Assessment of Biosecurity Practices and Its Status in Small- and Medium-Scale Commercial Poultry Farms in Arsi and East Showa Zones, Oromia, Ethiopia

Disease prevalence and seasonal outbreaks are challenging the poultry industry in Ethiopia. Proper sustainable implementation of biosecurity practices is important to reverse such problems. This study was conducted commercial farms two zones Ethiopia investigate farm characteristics, practices, status (BS) using a structured questionnaire. The variables were grouped into three factors, including conceptual, structural, operational biosecurity, based on their homogeneity. Descriptive inferential statistics used summarize results. Most owned by males (69.7%). majority (40.3%) located at distance <50 m from residential areas. Farm owners do not provide training employees (68.8%), which results poor implementation. mean BS 50.4 ± 11.62, 63.27 10.51, 44.69 13.04, respectively, indicating measurements less implemented. Overall, indicated that 40.7% have < 50% questing for interventions. characteristics positively associated with BS, shows substantial room improvement. Owners’ education, occupation, experience, flock size, significantly (p 0.05). A disease prevention strategy through improvement an economical means controlling prevalence.
